Monday, March 7th Fairlington Preschool Mardi Gras Party & Silent Auction

6 – 9pm @ Food Matters, Alexandria

Come out for a great evening of food, fun, and music to raise money for new playground equipment for the school!  Your ticket price includes entry as well as a delicious Mardi Gras themed menu designed by Food Matters owners, Christy and Tom Przystawik, especially for this event.  There will be traditional Louisiana food such as creole spiced shrimp, jambalaya, shrimp and chicken etoufee, cheesy creole grits, red beans and rice, and King Cake.

Tuesday, March 8th    Courthouse/Clarendon St. Patrick’s and Mardi Gras Parade

8pm @ Wilson Blvd. from N. Barton to N. Irving St. Clarendon, Arlington

This is a family friendly parade, with homemade floats, beads, costumed people and animals, and more. The parade route is on Wilson Blvd. from N. Barton to N. Irving St.


Wednesday, March 9th    Wild Ones: Missing Mitten

3:30 – 5pm @ Long Branch Nature Center, Arlington

Bring your mismatched gloves and mittens, and you will have “sew” much fun transforming them into funky friends.  $3 fee per person payable upon registration.  For kids ages: 6-10.


Thursday, March 10th   Raptors Up Close

10:15 & 11:30am @ Ripley Center, Smithsonian, Washington, DC

The father-and-son team of Howard and Jason Caldwell at Raptors Up Close brings fascinating facts and amazing animals to this event.  All ages.  Also Friday, March 11th.


Friday, March 11th    Second Helping Consignment Sale- Fairfax Spring Sale

12:30pm – 8:30pm @ Kena Shriners, Fairfax, VA

This sale has premie to preteen sizes.  The sale starts on March 11th and is through the 13th.  Sunday is 50% off most items!




Friday, March 11th    Mardi Gras Sock Hop, Spaghetti Dinner, Silent Auction and Raffle

All are welcome to come to the event for dancing, eating, and winning great prizes.  The dinner and bidding is open to anyone!
