Visit River Farm

Come visit one of the hidden gems of the area.  There is plenty to see, including 13 themed children’s gardens.  Check out my review post of River Farm for more info.  Truly one of our favorite places in this area!


Tuesday, April 19th    Afternoon Movies- Tangled

3pm – 5pm @ St. John’s Episcopal Church, Arlington

Wednesday, April 20th    Wild Things Puppet Show

10am @ Hidden Oaks Nature Center, Annandale

There will be three puppet shows, plus the Native American legend of how butterflies came to be.  A naturalist will show kids the live animals highlighted in the stories.

Wednesday, April 20th    Bull Run Easter Egg Hunt

10am @ Bull Run Regional Park, Centreville, VA

Wednesday, April 20th    Bunny Bonanza

10am – 1pm @ Heritage Farm Museum, Sterling, VA

Visitors get the opportunity to meet live rabbits, talk with local animal organizations, and participate in hands-on activities and demonstrations.


Thursday, April 21st    Spring Tea and Chocolate Workshop for Children

1pm – 2pm @  Tudor Place, Washington, DC

Come for a festive Spring Tea and enjoy some delicious sweet treats!  There will be costumed interpreters for a lesson in tea etiquette.  After the tea ceremony children will learn the basics of chocolate making and create their own 3D chocolate eggs to take home.  Cost is $20 doe member children, $25 for non-members, and $10 per adult.


Friday, April 22nd    Georgetown Family Fair
10am – 1pm @ Tudor Place & Dumbarton House, Washington, DC

Celebrate the spring at Dumbarton House and Tudor Place.  Kids will be able to make ice cream sundaes at Tudor Place and chocolate houses at Dumbarton House. There will also be different children’s games and crafts at each museum.  Cost is $8 for children members, $10 for children non-members, and $5 per adult.

Meet a rabbit and learn how the tradition of the Easter Bunny began. Learn about cottontails native to Fairfax County and how to tell if a deer or rabbit has visited your garden.

Friday, April 22nd    Earth Day Celebration

10am – 2pm @ Conservatory Terrace , US Botanical Garden, Washington, DC

Come celebrate the 41st anniversary of Earth Day.  There will be a cooking demonstration with Chef Tania Mercer, and you can learn how to make the planet a healthier place.  This event is free, and no pre-registration is required.
